Your Money At Work

Not one person takes a salary, for what they do, for Special Olympics Baltimore County. Every position is filled by a volunteer who is either in school, working full time, or retired. This means all of the money that is raised is used to support our various programs. Did you know that all athletes participate in Special Olympics free of charge?

How can the money you give help our fourteen athletic programs?

$55 could purchase a set of Bocce balls.

$100 could purchase five basketballs, or three weight lifting belts, or four dozen golf balls.

$325 could pay for postage of a Special Olympics Baltimore County newsletter.

$500 could pay the fee for our Duckpin Bowling Tournament

$650 could pay for uniforms for our Cheerleading program.

$1000 could pay for uniforms for our Basketball team, or for our facility fee for our Sailing program.

$2000 could pay the storage fee for all of our programs equipment.

Your support is appreciated. Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County is dependent upon private donations. Support your local Special Olympics program today.

Inspiration Walk 2010

Join us on the morning of Sunday, April, 25, 2010 at Meadowood Regional Park for INSPIRATION WALK 2010. A 3-mile walk benefiting Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County.

By walking, you will be supporting the continued development of those with intellectual disabilities. Your participation will help to provide the necessary funds for the sixteen sports programs in Baltimore County. Our athletes are not only competing when they take part in Special Olympics, they are also developing friendships, social networks, life skills, physical fitness and so much more. You walk…they win.

You can be an individual walker, join a team, or be a team leader, to help with the Inspiration Walk.

We welcome all Inspiration Walkers! All participants who have at least $25.00 in pledges will be given an Inspiration Walk T-shirt. All participants will be entered into a drawing or prizes. Beverages and snacks will be provided to all participants.

Walk along side our athletes and meet a new friend. A new friend who will be able to continue to excel because you took the time to show you care. This will be a day you will never forget.

More information about Inspiration Walk 2010 can be found by visiting our walk website.

In-Kind Donation

In-Kind donations are a great way to give to Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County (SOBA). Donated goods and services add greatly to the presentation of programs and services provided by SOBA. In-Kind needs are equipment, facility usage, give aways to reward volunteers and athletes, printing services, public awareness advertising, meals, etc.

In running a Special Olympics program or event (sports or fund raising), management team members associated with activities at the local levels often receive or secure donations of goods and services called in-kind donations. In-kind donations help offset the amount of cash it takes to present the program, event or activity. Other fund raising efforts also generate money to pay for supplies, services or items that are not donated in-kind. In order to properly reflect the true cost of SOBA programs, a record of all in-kind donations secured must be accounted for by SOBA. Products and services donated in-kind must be reported to Special Olympics Maryland, so that financial records are accurately reported to auditors.

If you are interested in making an In-Kind donation, and want more details on how to do so, please contact Jill Ross, Administrator, Special Olympics Baltimore County, JRoss0352@aol.com.
