The athletes and volunteers of Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County would like to thank everyone who braved the rain and fog to participate in Inspiration Walk 2010. Your commitment to helping raise the necessary funds for Special Olympics in our community is sincerely appreciated. Over $12,000 was raised because of your hard work and dedication.
We would also like to recognize Panera Bread and Wegmans Food Market for their in-kind donations. In addition, a special thank you goes out to Air Tran for providing two round trip airline tickets for travel in the continental U.S. The tickets were given to the the person who raised the most money. Katie Lutts and SOMDBA athlete Chuck Fisher raised $1,745.00 and will be traveling to a city of their choice.
The goal of Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County is to continue providing year-round sports training, education and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, age eight and older. With the help of donations from supporters such as you, we will be able to do so.
Last but not least, the Management Team would like to thank Melissa Wiegner, Kaitlin Carroll, Tracy McCreary, Irwin Layton, Lisa Mirachi, Anne Gawthrop, and Gayle Schmith for volunteering during the walk.
If you were not able to make it to the walk, but you would still like to make a contribution, you can still do so. Visit http://www.firstgiving.com/somdba or http://www.firstgiving.com/somdbadonate to make your contribution today.
