Fall Sports Classic Soccer Results

On Sunday, November 1, 2009, two Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County (SOMDBA) traditional 7v7 soccer teams, and ten athletes from the counties individual skills program traveled to the Crown Sports Center in Fruitland, MD to compete in the Special Olympics Maryland Fall Sports Festival.

In division 2 of the traditional 7v7 soccer competition, Coach Mack McGee’s team earned 4th place, and in division 7 Coach Laura Postin’s team earned 3rd place. Numerous medals were earned by athletes from SOMDBA’s individual skills program.

The Special Olympics Maryland Fall Sports Festival is a two-day competition that offers five sports, distance running, flag football, powerlifting, tennis and soccer, for Special Olympics Athletes and Unified Partners in Maryland. Approximately 600 athletes, 200 coaches, and 250 volunteers made their way to the Crown Sports Center in Fruitland, MD and Mount St. Mary’s University to take part in the festival this year.
