Flag Football…New To SOMDBA!

NEW to Special Olympics Maryland and Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County…FLAG FOOTBALL!

The newest sport for Special Olympic athletes,  flag football,  will run concurrently with the soccer season and will be introduced this fall of 2009 at Mount St. Mary’s University. Baltimore County athletes, who participate in fall sports, must select which sport they will be playing in at the Fall State Games.

Leading up to the Fall State Games at Mount St. Mary’s University, the weekly league will take place at the Baltimore Ravens practice complex in Owings Mills, MD.  Flag Football will allow athletes to participate in Unified Team competition and the individual skills competition. Flag Football will be offered in a Unified format in two age groups: ages 16-21 and 22 and older. Special Olympics Maryland is looking to offer competition for 4 teams in each division/age group in the fall.

Athletes who are interested in participating in Flag Football can sign-up via our Contact Page, or you can contact Melissa O’Brien, Area Director, Special Olympics Maryland Baltimore County at 410-746-0320.
